Happy Thanksgiving from Down Under

Happy Thanksgiving from the Watsons! Taken in New Zealand @ Wanaka Lake

Although Aussies aren’t celebrating today, we thought we’d take the opportunity to wish a very happy Thanksgiving to our friends and family back home and to spend a few moments giving thanks ourselves. Today, we are especially thankful for:

  • Getting to spend most of every day, for the last 240 days, with each other
  • The time, funds and commitment to take a round-the-world trip together
  • The stock market going up, even as the U.S. dollar tanks
  • Friends and family who keep in touch (and sometimes Skype!) while we’re on the road
  • New friends we meet along the way
  • A healthy body that can walk 8-10 miles, or in Brian’s case, run more than 13
  • The health, safety and happiness of our loved ones
  • Knowing that we can go home again, whenever we’re ready
  • Time and inclination to work on our top secret business projects 😉
  • Reliable Internet access
  • E-book readers and other forms of portable electronics that make our lives easier and more fun on the road
  • Warm weather and hot showers, especially after spending a few days without either
  • Fruit smoothies and good Thai food (can’t wait until Thailand!)
  • Clean drinking water and flushing toilets
  • Soap, which Brian says is the greatest invention since fire
  • Yoga
  • Art classes and artists who want to share their work with us
  • People who take the time to comment on the blog. Thank you for making me feel like someone out there is occasionally reading these posts!

What are you thankful for today?

Have a happy, blessed day,

P.S. While today and the holidays as a whole are about appreciating the gifts we have, they are also about where we’re at and where we’d like to be on our personal journeys through life. In that vein, I just read a beautiful, heartfelt post that I simply had to share. I strongly encourage you to pop over and read it because it’s an important and timely message, delivered in a deeply moving way.

Kate - Thanks, Will! How are things going back at home?

Will D. - Yeah! You go Watsons! Hope you guys are having a lot of fun!

Kate - Ah, thanks, Mom! I am thankful for both of those too. Love you!

Skmrorer - LOVE ALL OF THE THOUGHTFUL THANKSGIVING THOUGHTS – I KNOW I HAVE BUNCHES BUT JUST HAVEN’T HAD TIME TO THINK ABOUT THEM. I DO KNOW ONE AND THAT’S THAT I’M SO GRATEFUL AND THANKFUL THAT YOU ARE MY DAUGHTER AND THAT YOU HAVE SELECTED A FANTASTIC PERSON TO SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH.

Kate - Thanks, Terry! Good to hear from you.

Anonymous - Happy Thanksgiving to you guys as well. We miss you both!
